To increase the self determination of ourselves, our communities and generations to come, by providing access to land and structures that enable us to build wealth, foster environmental sustainability and actualize community wellness.
Who Is Earthseed:
We are a group of black and brown Visionaries who walk out our belief in abundance by collaborating to acquire land for shared affordable housing, sustainable food production, environmental stewardship and community ritual and education space.
What Earthseed Believes:
We believe that creating intergenerational relationships and skill sharing promotes and increases resourcefulness, community wellness, financial independence and self-determination for our current, past and future generations.
We believe that in cooperation and with analysis of systems of oppression we will create a center for common liberation, economic and environmental sustainability.
The vision of Earthseed was birthed in the Summer of 2012 with a gathering led by mentor and teacher Vivette Jeffries Logan of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, who helped frame and guide our first steps in visioning community shared space.
We have had two retreats. 1.) At Kerr Lake to begin to articulate mission and build deeper relationships with the family members. 2.) We had a retreat in Eastern Shore , VA to continue to build relationships and organizational structure.
We have participated in ongoing meetings, playdates, meals, and work parties throughout 2013 that have made our shared work together as much social as project oriented.
In 2014 our hope is to be in shared ownership in a community space.
